Why set up bumblebee houses? These cosy flower visitors with their colourful fur don't produce honey, but they pollinate numerous plants in our gardens. Bumblebees are wild bees and are considered excellent pollinators. Nevertheless, in many places, humans are interfering with nature so profoundly that bumblebees are finding fewer and fewer places to nest. The bumblebee house offers bumblebees, who are suffering from a lack of nesting places, enough space for an entire bumblebee colony. Even without a wax moth barrier, bumblebees are able to guard the entrance on their own - just as is normal in the wild, because there, too, no wax moth barrier is built for bumblebees.
