Is T6R suitable for my home and heating system? The T6 and T6R smart thermostats are compatible with most water heating systems, including basic or mixed boilers, both gas and oil. The T6R receiver can be used with on/off boilers. It also has an OpenTherm function that allows you to modulate the boiler. Some boilers with a modulation function have connection restrictions. For this reason we recommend that you contact your boiler manufacturer.
Is WiFi access required for my thermostat to work? The thermostat works great without WiFi access and you don't need it to install or program your device. However, an internet connection is required to remotely control your heating system. Honeywell home connected thermostats use a priority communications protocol that operates in the 868 MHz band. Therefore, they do not interfere with your other wireless devices. The T6R works with all 2.4GHz WiFi routers and connects easily to existing WiFi networks.
