StudScan mode scans one layer of drywall up to 0.5 in (12 mm) and 1 in (25 mm) thick. DeepScan mode scans through two layers of drywall up to 1 1/2 in (38 mm) deep. Deep Stud Scan mode is a higher sensitivity scan mode that should be used when additional layers of wall panels are present.
Wire ring indicator: No fear of drilling into a live wire—the wire warning detection reaches up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep. The added bonus is that the wire warning is ALWAYS ON when scanning in StudScan/DeepScan/MetalScan mode to alert you to the presence of unshielded AC wires up to 2 inches (50 mm) deep, so you can avoid drilling or hammering into a water pipe or power cable.
